NDIS Internal Auditing questions we are asked
- Is Premier Safety Consulting an approved NDIS quality auditor?
- No. Formal certification and verification audits must be conducted by an approved quality auditor appointed by the NDIS Quality and Safeguards Commission. Premier provides internal auditing, compliance review and preparation support. That is a distinct service, and we are explicit about the difference so there is no confusion about what you are engaging.
- Can you help us prepare for our external NDIS audit?
- Yes. That is the core of this service. We conduct the internal audit, identify where your evidence is weak, and help you close the gaps before the approved quality auditor arrives.
- What WHS documentation should an NDIS provider have?
- The same core WHS arrangements as any other employer, shaped around the specific hazards of the work: risk assessments covering participant-related and environmental hazards, manual handling, lone and community-based work, vehicle use, occupational violence and aggression, infection control where relevant, incident reporting and investigation, worker training and competency records, and emergency arrangements that account for the people being supported. Requirements vary by jurisdiction and by the supports you deliver.
- How do NDIS obligations and WHS obligations interact?
- They overlap but are not the same. NDIS obligations focus on participant safety, quality and rights; WHS obligations focus on the health and safety of workers and others affected by the work. Many hazards sit in both, such as occupational violence, manual handling during support, vehicle use and emergency response. Providers that manage them as two separate systems usually end up with duplicated paperwork and gaps in both.
