FAQs
Contractor Management questions we are asked
- Are we responsible for our contractors' safety?
- Under the model WHS laws adopted in most Australian jurisdictions, duties are shared: more than one business can owe a duty to the same worker, and those duties cannot be contracted away. Requirements and terminology vary between jurisdictions, so the practical answer depends on where you operate and the arrangement in place. What is consistent everywhere is that engaging a contractor does not transfer your duty entirely.
- Can you review SWMS on our behalf?
- Yes. We can review submitted SWMS against the task and the site, and we can train your supervisors to do it themselves, which is usually the more sustainable outcome.
- Will this slow down our onboarding?
- Done properly, it speeds it up. Most delays come from unclear requirements and repeated back-and-forth, not from the checks themselves.
